Third brake light
Psychologist John Voevosky reasoned that with all the distractions of driving, a third brake light positioned at the top of the rear windshield would be a more visible cue to drivers to slow down. He tested his small, inexpensive invention by equipping a group of San Francisco taxis with the new device and designating other non-equipped taxis as a control. After 10 months, the taxis with the third rear brake light had suffered over 60% fewer rear-end collisions.
