Q. What do you do for Persis?
I am a Data Scientist.
Q. What is your area of expertise?
Building a solid knowledge in mining Big Data (structured, semi-structured or unstructured data) through the latest analytical techniques to provide real business analytical value.
Q. How did you get into this field?
Big Data has become the hottest topic nowadays. I was interested in data analysis and management because there were more cool examples reported showing how Big Data and Data Analytics changed people’s mind and living style. I attended the first batch of Master’s program of Business Analytics at Michigan State University, from that program, I became skilled and experienced as a Data Scientist to handle real business projects that requires using data analytical techniques.
Q. From your point of view, what’s the best reason (or top reasons) that companies should consider working with Persis?

Q. If you were not working for Persis, and you could do anything you wanted to do, what would your dream job be?
I want to be a driver, either a racing car driver or a long-haul truck driver. Just cannot resist the desire to operate a cool car and go all the way to the extreme.
Q. What is your favorite book and/or TV show and/or movie and/or food?
TV show: How I met your mother, one night two days (Korean entertainment show)
Movie: Ted, One Day ( my taste is changing all the time… )
Food: All kinds of Chinese dishes (ß nothing can compare to Chinese cuisine! And nothing can be unsuitable to put into a Chinese dish!)
Q. What do you do in your spare time?
Drive my little ZoomZoom (2009 Mazda 3) to explore Pure Michigan and Great Lakes area. Last Fall, My friends and I drove 10 hours one-way to Cooper Harbor, the northernmost part of Upper Peninsula to view Fall colors of Michigan.
Q. Is there something you have done, or some talent you have, or some other interesting fact about you that people are surprised to learn about?
I used to be a Chemical Engineering PhD Student, and I also have a bachelor's degree in Project Management… (Yeah, I have a lot of different degrees…)
I can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghai Dialect and my hometown dialect, and I’m learning Korean and German. Most of these languages are learnt from watching TV shows, and my ultimate goal is to be able to understand all the languages spoken on the earth… (and I know I cannot achieve this goal during my lifetime, and that’s why it is called goal… like the goal of keeping fit…)
